This is HIS Voice!
I Want You!
I Love The Voice!
I love watching The Voice. I love the antics between Adam and Blake. I love the concept of the blind auditions. Not being judged on outward appearance but by the pure quality of your voice. Think about it. That’s something that hardly ever happens in our society. I love feeling like I’m part of discovering amazing hidden talent.
I Want You
But probably more than anything, I love watching those chairs spin around in the blind auditions lit up with these three words, “I want you.” I want you. Aren’t those the three words every human being longs to hear? How much time and energy do we spend trying to prove ourselves? Trying to win approval based on what we wear, where we work, what we own, what we do? All in a futile attempt to have someone simply say, “I want you.”
I was adopted when I was four months old. It took a while because I had a skin rash that was well, a bit unsightly. There were a lot of potential moms and dads that didn’t turn their chair around for me because I had less than perfect skin. Thankfully, someone finally did. Growing up, my mom never got tired of telling the story of how she chose me. She said that when she saw my big blue eyes she knew she had to have me. She saw right past my rash and my imperfections to me. My dad, bless his heart, saw something too. He saw an opportunity to work out a deal and so I came complete with a $150 agency fee reduction. I was a chosen bargain baby! But chosen nonetheless. Here’s what I want you to know. You were chosen too. Ephesians 1:4a says this?
Even as [in His love] He chose us [actually picked us out for Himself as His own] in Christ before the foundation of the world? (Amplified).
God is not pushy. He doesn’t force Himself on us. He chooses us, He pursues us, and then He waits for us to choose Him. When we do, Romans 8:15 is a promise.
For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, Abba, Father. (NKJV).
You Were Adopted Too
Abba literally means daddy! God actually adopts us. He sees everything, every spot, every blemish, and every skin rash. He looks past it all and still makes us his very own sons and daughters. Were told in Ephesians 1:11 that God, our heavenly daddy has given us a full inheritance. He has given us the keys to the kingdom! He gives us every good gift heaven has to offer.
Why You? Why Me?
Can’t you hear His voice saying, “I want you?” Why? Why you? Why me? The answer is found in 1 Corinthians 1:26-27.
For [simply] consider your own call, brethren; not many [of you were considered to be] wise according to human estimates and standards, not many influential and powerful, not many of high and noble birth.[No] for God selected (deliberately chose) what in the world is foolish to put the wise to shame, and what the world calls weak to put the strong to shame (Amplified).
And there it is. We are chosen not because of anything good that we’ve done. Not because of any talent that we have. Not because of how smart or good looking we are. Not because we can sing like an angel. He has chosen us because we have a need for His saving grace in our lives. We need Christ to do for us what we cannot do for ourselves. Consider John 3:16-17?
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved (NKJV).
One Judge Matters
When you’re standing on life’s stage and you’re singing your heart out for all to see, there is one judge that matters, Jesus. He sees past your off pitch lifestyle. He sees past the extra baggage you’re carrying. He sees past the character flaws. He sees past poor decisions. He sees past your sin. He has already hit the buzzer. He has already turned His chair around for you. He sees you and His voice lovingly, persistently, and clearly says, “I want you.” Can’t you hear Him?
Choose Your Coach
What’s our part? We just need show up, just as we are. We need to pick our coach. Listen to His voice. Do what He tells us to do. And He’ll take care of the rest.
Just as I am without one plea
But that Thy blood was shed for me
And that Thou bid’st me come to Thee
Oh, Lamb of God, I come, I come
Maybe today you’re ready to take that very first step of faith. When you do, Luke 15:10 tells us that there is an incredible celebration in heaven going on in your honor right now! If you said yes to God today for the very first time, I want to encourage you to let someone know and find a good church where you can get plugged in and grow. That’s where the joy is!
Maybe you’ve been a Christ follower for a while now and you’ve been busy trying to live for the applause of men or somehow gain more of God’s favor. I want to encourage you to rest. There’s nothing you can do to make him love you more. There’s nothing you can do to make Him love you less.
You are free to be.
Thanks for watching and remember, someone you know needs to hear this. Don’t forget to share the joy!
